We have finally embarked on potty training the twins. They will be 3 in a couple of weeks and I decided we just needed to bite the bullet and do it. So this is more for my documentation than anything else, but if you have any good tips I would love to hear them.
Day 1 (2/7/11)- We started right after nap time and hit the potty every 20 minutes. I had them drink as much as they wanted and would give 3 mini m&ms just for sitting on the potty. I had them wear the thicker style undies as well. I also have 2 froggy potties in the bathroom so each has a potty on the floor to use. Before I had one little potty and one potty seat for the toilet. But this has been much more successful. By the end of the day they both both went pee on the potty, and each only had one accident. Great first day!
Day 2 (2/8/11)- Twins had school today so I sent them in pull ups. They usually stay pretty dry at school but they aren't quite ready to go all out and try undies at school yet. As soon as they got home we went back into the every 20 minutes bit. Beck was super compliant and kept with the program. Ella wants to do things on her own time and decided she didn't want to go to the potty that often. Since I didn't want to get into a power struggle with her I just sort of let up on getting her to go. I gave her the reminder but if she didn't want to go I didn't push it. She stayed dry all afternoon. But never went pee on the potty. Beck went about 3-4 times on his own without my prompting. Pretty excited about that! He even poured the pee into the potty by himself. It was so cute to see how proud he was of himself. We all got super excited for him and he got extra m&ms and high fives.
Day 3 (2/9/11)- Trying a different tactic today. Going from every 20 minutes to every hour now. They are staying dry for several hours and Beck will go on his own. Ella only wants to wear panties but won't go sit on the potty. But she is staying dry. I just don't want her to start holding it in for too long and then getting a bladder infection. They are still in pullups for nap and bed time. Neither has had an accident today at all though. We'll see how the rest of the day goes. I'm hoping to be diaper free during the day by the end of the week.
Wish us luck!

Good luck - I have two kids and there was no rhyme or reason when they decided to go potty on their own. My daughter was almost 4 1/2 before she would go consistently, although we did everything to try to get her to go on her own! I thought she was going to be wearing pullups to kindergarten! :) My son was a little better, but not much. Both of them pretty much decided on their own when they were ready. I think we tried to make too big a deal of the whole thing. We finally learned not to push the issue, and they just started going on their own. Hang in there, and good luck! :)

my daughter potty broke both of her girls NAKED from the waist down......it only took 3 days.....of course they meaing mommy also was locked in the kitchen and dinning room because of the tile and hard wood floors....
You are such a brilliant mommy. It seems that they will be there in no time - good going! (I can't BELIEVE they are three!)
My mom said the boys were easier to train than us girls. My oldest completely trained in 21 days. My youngest took longer. Good luck! Sounds like you have a great plan going
