Sleep Update

So far so good. They went to sleep last night after about 20 minutes of crying and tonight they went to sleep after 22 minutes. (Yes I'm a little neurotic about it, don't want them to cry to long!)

Last night they stayed asleep until 1am , then Beck was up at 3am, and both back up at 4:30 st which point I let Beck cry it out a bit after feeding him because he was just resisting sleep. And he was asleep within 5 minutes. And they were so much happier today until it was time for Daddy to leave for work, at which point they wailed at the top of their lungs for a good 30 minutes. Go figure.

Side note- I tried to make Alton Brown's "The Chewy" chocolate chip cookie tonight. I'm always on the look out for a great chewy chocolate cookie recipe. But as luck would have it I think I totally failed at it. First I was short a few ingredients- I had no bread flour only all purpose, I was out of vanilla, and I thought I had a ton of brown sugar and I ended up having only half of what I needed. So after I adjusted the recipe to what I had they turned out puffy and not chewy. Majorly disappointed, but the next time I'm at the store I'll get the missing ingredients and try again. Good news is that at least I won't eat cookies all night long and gain 10lbs while doing so. The Wii fit would have a field day with me if I did!!

Crying

I am crossing my fingers that we will only have a little crying tonight. Our sleep training began yesterday and has been working pretty well so far. I decided to start yesterday because they both actually got a good nights sleep the night before.

We are using Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child. I've modified it a bit but it seems to really be helping. Their naps have already dramatically improved. We went from a week of 20 minute naps and waking every hour at night to 1-2 hour naps 3 times a day and only waking up at midnight and 5am (an average of both babies). And they have been sleeping in their crib not the swings.

Now tonight is the real test. The swings are out of batteries, so they have been put down to sleep in their beds. I help and rocked them for about 15 minutes and then put them to bed.(just realized I should of kept them upright about 15 more minutes, reflux sux. But the big question is should I go back in and pick them up after they have been fussing for the last 10 minutes or wait another 10 and see if they go to sleep? Crap I didn't swaddle them either, sleep deprivation puts holes in my brain!!) Hmmm...crying is still going on, may need to go in and swaddle and rock to reset it all. Hopefully they will sleep in the next 5 minutes.

But the whole point of this post was to say I'm really impressed with the book. It seems to be working already. :) I'll let you know how it all goes in the morning.

Pool fun

The babies and Daddy got to have some pool fun this weekend (mommy stayed out and watched the fun while sipping a nice cold drink in the shade!!). They had a blast floating and relaxing in the pool. They both stayed in for over an hour. I think we have some water babies on our hands.

WOO HOO

Ella was a SUPA STAR! last night. She slept from 8pm to 5am!!! I think it was a total fluke but it was nice. Maybe Beck will take the hint from her!

More pics

The babies, the dog and I went on a walk the other day.
I just thought they looked so cute in the stroller, like big babies.

My little bro and his fiance came over yesterday to hang out a bit and get some baby loving in. I was also told that this was the beginning of training for my little bro for the future! They started "small" with the dog and worked their way up to the babies!!

Chuck did a great job with the babies and I got a nice break. Erinn is just a complete natural. They will be fabulous parents when the time comes. :)

New Accomplishments!

Well we did end up getting a bit more sleep last night. They slept from 8-2 which was better than waking up at midnight like they had the last few nights. But then they woke up about 6 times from 2-7:30. We are slowly getting there and we may be trying the cry it out method sooner or later. Thanks for all of your advice ladies!

But the best part of the morning was the reason we woke up at 7:30 for good. Mr. Beck learned how to roll over this morning. And after he got stuck on his belly he decided screaming might help, which is how we found out he had accomplished this great feat. He did it about 5 more times within in the hour. So he has the rolling from back to belly down and now needs to get the belly to back method down! Its that darn arm that keeps on getting in the way. He gets so frustrated. Its really cute.

Then as we were watching him roll over I was noticing that when I sat Ella up she was pretty stable. So I left her on her own to sit and she actually stayed up for about 15 seconds by herself, which is like a year in baby time! And she did it a few more times after the first try. This is so fun watching them develop!

But I'm still standing by my method of delaying the walking. ;) As soon as they stand up KNOCK EM DOWN!!! LOL I am not quite ready to chase yet, which means I'll most likely get the 9 month old runners. At least we have some bigger kid to help in the chase.
