I am crossing my fingers that we will only have a little crying tonight. Our sleep training began yesterday and has been working pretty well so far. I decided to start yesterday because they both actually got a good nights sleep the night before.
We are using Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child. I've modified it a bit but it seems to really be helping. Their naps have already dramatically improved. We went from a week of 20 minute naps and waking every hour at night to 1-2 hour naps 3 times a day and only waking up at midnight and 5am (an average of both babies). And they have been sleeping in their crib not the swings.
Now tonight is the real test. The swings are out of batteries, so they have been put down to sleep in their beds. I help and rocked them for about 15 minutes and then put them to bed.(just realized I should of kept them upright about 15 more minutes, reflux sux. But the big question is should I go back in and pick them up after they have been fussing for the last 10 minutes or wait another 10 and see if they go to sleep? Crap I didn't swaddle them either, sleep deprivation puts holes in my brain!!) Hmmm...crying is still going on, may need to go in and swaddle and rock to reset it all. Hopefully they will sleep in the next 5 minutes.
But the whole point of this post was to say I'm really impressed with the book. It seems to be working already. :) I'll let you know how it all goes in the morning.

can I ask are you doing a reflux nest to help when they sleep?
What is a reflux nest? We had the reflux wedges in their bed for a while, but then they started to wiggle down them and turned into little puddles at the bottom of it. We were just talking about raising part of their mattress but I'm worried that they will just get stuck at the bottom there as well.
The prevacid really seems to be helping so its not as bad, but I don't want it to go back to being bad again. I'll take any suggestions!
Hey girl-
I also used the same book. Maren slept with a reflux wedge under her mattress for a long time-- to elevate her head. I don't think it helped much, but she had really severe reflux. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Choose a specified amount of time to let them cry (and time it!). Good luck!! Summer
