Yes I know I am way behind in posting. My laptop had to be resuscitated by the wonderful mr. charitymom. So I am slowly getting back in line. But I've had this darn cold/allergy/cough/whateverelsewantstoattackme. I am so over being sick.
So I am looking for some new authors to read. I get stuck on one author and read everything they write and have the hardest time finding the next one to move on to. So who do you like to read?
I love a variety of books. Right now, my favorite are FBI thrillers. I also just read the Sookie Stackhouse series and loved that. I don't want anything super depressing. More into murder mystery suspense right now with a little vampire thrown in on the side.
I've resorted to hitting Hannah's book stash and getting caught back up on the classics. But I'm ready for big girl books again.
Suggestions?

Tess Gerritsen books are great. They're crime/medical/mystery. She writes many books but her Dr.Maura Isles with Detective Jane Rizzoli series are my favorites. I got my dad hooked on them too. Her books are reasonably priced too under $10.

Dan Brown is great but rather long. I find his books hit or miss.
JD Robb books are pretty good too.
Barbara Kingsolver, if you haven't read her, you're missing out!
I was also going to suggest Tess Gerritsen, that's who I'm all about right now too. James Patterson is another one I really like. He has tons of books, I probably like the Alex Cross ones the best, but they're all good. Happy reading!
Donna Andrews' Meg Langslow series are silly, fluffy murder mysteries in a similar vein to Stephanie Plum, but without the vehicle carnage. And they are all at the Allen Library.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Outlander by Gil Adamson (not the series by Diana Gabaldon, though those are good too!), although I haven't read it yet, it's coming up on my reading list: The Help, and of course my favorite popcorn books are Sue Grafton alphabet series. Anything by Anne Lamott. Feel better soon, friend!
I'm hooked on James Patterson, he's all about cold cases and unsolved crimes and such. Right now, I'm reading When The Wind Blows by him, it's about children that fly. WEIRD!!!
Three great authors (if you don't mind violence) are Michael Connelly, Harlen Coben, Lee Child.
I second BMitchell's author recommendations, and would also add Henning Mankell.
YAY!!! I love all the recs. Exactly what I was looking for. I've read Patterson and his Alex Cross series, all of JD Robb's series, a lot of Dan Brown, Grafton's alphabet series, and too many more. But I haven't heard of several of these authors. I am so excited!! I will let you guys know what I find. Thanks again for the recs. :)
I'm still looking for some good authors as well, but one book that I am enjoying so far is The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.
Oh and if you want something deeper and longer than a murder mystery, try Isabel Allende. Zorro and The House of the Spirits are my faves but TH of the S is super dark.
I 2nd the Kingsolver recommendation.
I just finished Dean Koontz's ODD Thomas series. They are like a detective novel but with and "odd" twist. Don't want to tell you what the oddness is if you haven't read one of them yet.
Have you read the JD Robb In Death series? There's 30-some books.
I second the Michael Connelly suggestion. The Harry Bosch series are great, and Daniel Baldacci books are really good as well. That's almost all I read...murder mysteries! Nelson Demille is also a great author.
