Anne Lamott is one of my writing inspirations. She's amazing. If you only read one of hers, read "Operating Instructions". Her talent blows my mind.
I love, love, love the Michael Connelly books. I have read every one and then went back and read them all in order again. I highly suggest reading them in order as they do follow the life of the main character, Detective Harry Bosch. Then, they switch to a lawyer but keep reading because Harry isn't far away in those either.
Just when you think you have them figured out he totally surprises you. I love that.
I also like how he ties all the characters together from book to book.
I've read everything that Julie Garwood has written too. Love her.
I've also read all of Jude Deveraux's books too. Have you read any of hers?
I think I have read some Michael Connelly now that you say his characters name. I need to go revisit that.
I can never remember the names of the authors when I'm in the store. I literally wrote down all of these names and put them in my wallet.
I have read Jude Deveraux as well. Totally forgot about her! Love her!
Try Elizabeth George and Louise Penny if you like a more literary mystery with a great sense of place and strong characters. Elizabeth George mysteries all take place in England and the Louise Penny mysteries are set in the countryside of Canada outside of Montreal. You won't be disappointed.
You'll love love love Lovely Bones, I couldn't put it down. The book was so much better than the movie which was massively watered down.
Happy Birthday Beck and Ella! Hugs from Fort Worth!
Robert Parker writes great mystery/crime novels.
The Sunny Randall series is great--I love Sunny's character.
Robert Parker passed away recently :( but has two more books coming out posthumously.
I like a lot of the same authors you read, and the ones you got today at the library. A couple more you might like:
Margaret Maron (Deborah Knott series) and Carolyn Hart.
Happy reading!
p.s. I can't believe the twins are already two!
