Birthday!

My little man has his 7th birthday party today! I can't believe he has gotten so big. I seriously sat at the store trying to remember how old he was going to be. I just can't believe time has flown by so quickly.

So I am making his cake today- his favorite chocolate cake that I make :). I got everything cooked up just right and then I went to turn the cake out...and what happens...it breaks in half. ARGGGGGG! But I am layering a smaller cake on top of it so I'm really hoping that the icing will hide the issues. I also have some star cupcakes that could possibly hide issues if needed.

But since it is a clone wars cake I could just make the broken cake look like uneven ground for the guys to fight on, right? The big problem is that this isn't made with a butter cream icing. Its a hot choclate icing that you pour on, which makes the cake so super yummy! Major problem with that- you can't really control how well it covers. So if this doesn't ice well I may be making an emegency third cake. At least its a really easy cake to make. Wish me luck! I'll post pics later.

This brings back a memory. When my oldest was six, I made her fave cake, but we were on our way to Australia to visit my fam, and were overnighting in Hawaii with friends...lets just say the cake came out of my friend's oven completly 'sunk' in the middle. What to do? One of her kids had some tiny little plastic train carriages....I decorated the cake with rail road tracks, set the carriages on top and told Jessie, "honey, this is a Ravine Cake!" Guess what? She loved it! (thank god :) PS Debbie what kind of camera do you use...your pics have amazing clarity..

OK, I'm a total lurker, but chocolate brings me out every time. How about posting the recipe for the easy chocolate cake with the warm pour-on icing? To me, that may be the ultimate post with content!!
