Prevacid

We went to the Dr. today and he put her on prevacid. We also found out that she isn't gaining as much as she should be. I'm guessing its because the relux upsets her tummy and throat so much.

So we are supposed to be offering her formula or expressed breast milk after every meal just to make sure she isn't hungry. She just glares at me and spits the nipple out when I do this. So I really hope she will start gaining a bit more so that we don't have to got to the next level the dr. is talking about.

So cross your fingers that this works.

(edited to add---> Last night was hard, but I know it can take up to a week to see results. But today was much better. Everyone commented on how much happier she seems. :) We had a lot more smiles, and that was just fabulous!!)

Hi Debbie,
I live in Calif. Your babies are soo cute. I'm generally a lurker on all the posse blogs but felt I could comment here.
My first daughter was a 34 weeker and had acid reflux for just about 10 months. She took Reglan and Zantac. I noticed when she grew the meds needed to be adjusted higher. Her appts weren't as timely as the growth spurts. I actually had to pull her from BM and put her on Enfamil AR (added rice). It was thicker and stayed down better. But that said, I worked with a gal who also had a preemie and managed w/the BM the entire time so hang in there.

Also, not that this is a guarantee, but my daughter has a hyper sensitive gag reflux (imagine huge crying at age 2 and gags. Also dentist appts didn't go well with the sucker thing). She's also sensitive to the way foods are textured. She's 7 yrs old now and you'd never guess she was a preemie.
