Day 12 Shred

First off, I am so proud and excited of all of you guys that are doing the Shred with us!!! That makes me so happy. And it motivates me to keep going even stronger.

We just started Phase 2 on Saturday. We are doing the shred in 10 day increments. So 10 days for the first level, 10 for the 2nd and 10 for the 3rd. And I think we have decided that Sunday's are our day of rest, the last two Sunday's both Nancy and I have been too tired to do it. So why not just make it a rule and stick to it, right? LOL!

I'm not sure about you guys but for those of you that have started phase two, does it seem easier than phase 1? It may be that we just rocked out phase one and worked our way up to phase 2 so that it isn't as hard as we expected. We keep looking at all the moves, trying to make sure that we are not missing anything and doing them correctly and so far it seems like we are. Now phase 2 seems to be a little harder on the knees. Are any of you doing any extra stretching before you start to help your legs out? I think we may start doing that.

I have had reconstructive knee surgery so I do have to be careful of certain moves and I do do the easier version of a few on the 2nd phase. But my big problem right now is that my good knee has started to hurt as well. So I am trying to figure out the best way to go about all of this. It may just be my shoes though. I have been doing all of this in running shoes that are a couple of years old. I think I may need to pick up some new cross trainers to help out with the support I need.

I think someone commented about the scale not being their friend right now. Personally the scale hates me. My weight has not changed for the last month. I just keep bouncing around the same 3lbs over and over again. I am so FRUSTRATED!!! I can see the changes happening in the mirror but according to the scale and the Wii Fit I have not improved at all. I seriously want to pull my hair out. We took pictures again and I could see a slight difference in the images, and my clothes are still fitting a lot better. But the scale is my nemesis!!! I know I shouldn't worry about it because muscle does weigh more than fat but its still disheartening. I am at the point where I just want to say screw it with the 1500 calories and just eat whatever I want.

But we have decided to give it one last chance. We are adding in some more cardio every day to see if that helps boost the metabolism into dropping more weight. I'll let you know if it works or not. I have decided that I am not willing to post any pictures until the end, I promise I will put the whole series up. Unless of course one day I just look fabulous and have to show everyone before the end! ;)

And for those of you who still haven't opened your dvd, DO IT NOW! Opening it is one step closer to actually doing it. Baby steps people!!!

I rec'd my copy in the mail yesterday and at 5:00 a.m. this morning, I was up in the living room with my 1st work-out!! Yeah!! I noticed too that I was having issues with my knees during the lunges (did I spell that right?). Congrats on making it to the 2nd level!!

Started Level 1 on Thursday. I've done 4 of the last 5 days. Last night, I was able to do 12 push ups in a row without stopping. WOW!

I haven't noticed anything yet but stamina. I've been doing 20 minutes on the elliptical or running first. Its definitely doing something. Today, I'm sore but not nearly as sore as I was. That's something right?

Phase 2 seems so much easier to me as well! I think it was the jumping Jacks and the jump rope at the beginning that just burned me out for the rest of the workout. I feel like the hardest part of phase 2 is circuit 3 so I am not dying until the end. I have noticed that it is harder on my knees and I tried to break my foot doing the plank move where you pop your knees up under you. My shoe got caught and seriously hurt my foot. (Don't tell anyone that I had consumed 3 beers and was working out because I felt guilty) :)

Okay, I have OPENED my DVD, but haven't started! SaraL talked me into this...so I guess tonight is as good a night as any.
Thanks for the boost! I love reading that you're seeing such great results!

Thanks for the update Debbie! I too (because of you) have become a walking advertisement for shredding! So far I have 6 people who bought it and have started because of my recommendation! I'm on day 6 now and am noticing results (bodywise, not scalewise...grrr!). I love it! Thanks again for the recommendation and motivation! ~Stacy

OK, You don't know me but you have totally inspired me to give it a try. I started on Sunday and could feel it yesterday but not so bad today- I think the 10 day interval is something I will have to try. So far I like it, but agree that I need more cardio so I will probably add 15-20 min. on the tread mill each day, thanks for pushing me into something new.

Everything you said is true for me - Level 2 seems easier and my knees are really starting to hurt. I have never had knee problems before. I don't want to do less of a workout because I fear not getting results. And my scale hasn't budged either, but I feel tighter. I'm on day 16 - 14 to go and then what?

Deb, holy crap! I started yesterday and I can barely move today, you'd think with me already doing the elliptical 45 min a day I wouldn't be hurting so bad, just goes to show, this dvd works your ass off! I love it! Not sure how I'm going to do it today, but I'm not quiting. The 10 day level is a good idea, I was wondering how that would work. I found I was just as sweaty doing this as when I'm on the elliptical. Ah where's my hot tub? Can't wait to see your pictures, hope the scale moves for you soon, I know how frustrating it is, but I bet your looking fine, lol! Hugs from Fort Worth!

I started on Monday and was a little smug that it didn't seem totally horrible to me. Then I was pretty sore by nighttime. I haven't done it yet today, but will later.

What size weights do you use? The only ones I could find were my 2 pounders, so I used those the first 2 days, but picked up some 5 pounders today.

My problem is I just can't seem to be inspired to diet AND exercise. I always seem to be into one or the other at a time. I'm sure if I put them together, I'd be a size 4, right? I'll just keep telling myself that!
